Manage multiple affiliate banners with a simple script on blogger

1 comment
Today most of the bloggers use affiliate banner ads for monetizing their online content along with the conventional PPC/PPM ads via adsense. There are a lot of options for affiliate ads, which bloggers can use.

If you are using a number of different affiliate networks or programs, it becomes difficult to place all the affiliate banners effectively on the blog without compromising the quality of the blog. Because putting up a lot of banners here and there masks the original content of the website and has negative impact on the readership.

The best way to manage multiple advertising and affiliate programs free of cost is off course DFP (doubleclick for publishers) or OpenX ad server. Both of these are complete ads serving suites and has the capacity of managing a lot of different types of ads, and also provide statistics and insight of the ad campaign.

For wordpress users there are ad management plugins available which can be used to manage multiple ads. But no such pluin is available for blogger (blogspot blogs).

If you are not a power publisher and have only few image based affiliate banners, which you want to display at a single ad slot on your blog/website this simple script can help you manage multiple banners at the same ad space. This script can rotate multiple banners with each refresh of your website page, working virtually as the ad servers. The down side is this script do not provide any kind of click statistics or insight.

Here is the script code.
<script type="text/javascript">
//***Banner Manager by http://www.newbietechtips.com***//

var images = [],
index = 0;

images[0] = "<a href = 'Banner link 1'><img src='/banners/banner.gif' alt='Banner 1'></a>";
images[1] = "<a href = 'Banner link 2'><img src='/banners/banner2.gif' alt='Banner 2'></a>";
images[2] = "<a href = 'Banner link 3'><img src='/banners/banner3.gif' alt='Banner 3'></a>";

Just replace the banner landing link, banner image url and alt text the the above positions. You can add any number of such banners in this script. After adding your banner links this script can be added with a HTML/Javascript widget on the blogger blog.

The example of banner rotator is placed in the sidebar as an example.
